Your day’s assignment is on the functioning of an electrical panel. The electrical service panel allows to break the circuit of the current flowing the parts that you want to work on, so that that you can do it safely. Alternative, the main electrical service box is called a load center.
One of the functions of the load center is to act as a power distribution center, to all other centers which are connected to various destinations in the house. The main load center can be supplemented with an additional electrical panel, which can be of a smaller capacity, just to enhance the capacity of the main one. The electrical panel is fitted with a door, which will give you access to other major parts of the panel, which are called circuit breakers, for breaking the current floor to the branch you want it not to.
Circuit breakers are many, but there is one big one called the double -pole service connect. Inside the panel box, it can be positioned at the top, at the bottom or at one of the sides. Its function is to control power going to various branches branch circuit breakers.
Entering into the main circuit breaker, are two black service wires, which are known as hot bus bars. The main circuit breaker has another function of positioning the wires, so that they can supply electricity to the rest of the circuits. Again, there are other two wires which come out of the main circuit proceeding to the various destinations.
Upon leaving the hot wires, the electric current will work through various electric appliances such as light bulbs and outlets. There are also neutral bus bars which are connected with the two smaller neutral wires leaving the main circuit breaker. The whole circuit will get completed when the main electrical service panel is connected by the two main neutral bus bar, before extending it to the main power grid.
The other interesting part is the main bonding jumper, which connects the neutral ground bus with the main electrical service panel. There is another current connection, which is the last one, involving a copper wire connected to a metal rod in the ground from the neutral wires, whose purpose to take control of any stray currents which might be as a result of over flow of current.
Depending various factors, it can be prudent to make an independent connection between the neutral wire to the ground rod. The separate connection involves, electrically linking the ground wire with the neutral wire.
